This is a classic Lone Star quilt (historically also known as the Mathematical Star, Star of the East, or Native American Morning Star). Measures 72 square. Est circa 1930's. A couple of repairs noted, some bites along the binding, a little of bunching right at the binding - does not impact display - as one can see with the pictures. We have not soaked her, in our opinion she did not need to be soaked. Wash vintage/antique quilts on when necessary. Medium thickness.

Here is a brief summary of its design and characteristics:

  • Pattern & Construction: The central design features a large, dominant eight-pointed star pieced entirely from small diamond shapes (diamonds-in-a-diamond technique). The geometric layout creates a powerful optical radiating effect outward from the center.

  • Color Palette: It features a striking contrast between a vibrant, solid marigold/yellow background and a mix of solids and calico prints within the star itself. The rings of the star transition from a deep red center out through purple, floral prints, bright turquoise, solid red, olive green prints, and pink accents, framed by a thin red binding.

  • Quilting Style: It has dense, traditional hand-quilting or closely spaced machine-quilting that follows a cross-hatch or grid pattern in the negative space. This adds rich texture and a crinkled, vintage feel to the solid yellow background.

Fine Print - LK rule - this is a vintage piece, meaning condition will be noted within the context of its age. Flaws seen will be shared. These items are vintage, meaning used, if you want perfect, please do not purchase. Sales are final. Ask questions.
